Our Projects

Southern Power and its subsidiaries, some of which are owned in part with various partners, own or operate 50 facilities operating or under construction in 13 states with more than 11,920 MW of generating capacity in Alabama, California, Delaware, Georgia, Kansas, Maine, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas, Washington and West Virginia. Our portfolio now includes over 4,510 MW of renewable generation. That diversity – through geography and fuel source – is part of what enables us to build the future and makes us America's leading wholesale energy partner.

Solar

Southern Power currently owns or operates more than 2,395 megawatts of solar generating capacity at 28 facilities operating in California, Georgia, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina and Texas. Twenty-six of these facilities are co-owned by third parties, with Southern Power having the majority ownership.

Wind

o   Southern Power currently owns or operates more than 2,115 megawatts of wind generating capacity at 13 facilities operating or under construction in Kansas, Maine, Oklahoma, Texas, Washington and West Virginia. In April 2020, the company announced its first wind facility in West Virginia, the 56-MW Beech Ridge II Wind Facility.

Natural Gas

Southern Power owns more than 7,380 megawatts across seven gas plants in Alabama, Georgia and North Carolina.

Alternative Clean Technologies

Southern Power has recently invested in more than 29 megawatts of alternative clean technology projects utilizing both energy storage and fuel cell technology.
