Jarvis Wright serves as a business development manager for Southern Power, supporting commercial origination across the company’s Southeast markets. In his role, Jarvis focuses on developing solutions to meet the capacity and energy needs of investor‑owned utilities, electric membership cooperatives, and municipal customers, with a primary emphasis on Georgia. He supports Southern Power’s growth strategy through the development of new generating assets, the remarketing of existing facilities, and the cultivation of strong, long‑term customer relationships.

Jarvis began his career with Alabama Power in 1995 as a student engineer, supporting the planning and design of residential and commercial service solutions throughout the Western Division. He later joined Southern Company Services as an information systems analyst, serving as lead software developer and analyst for key business applications. In 2005, Jarvis joined Southern Power as a plant engineer and later served as instrumentation and controls team lead at the H. Allen Franklin Combined Cycle Plant. Since then, he has held a variety of engineering and leadership roles across the Generation Development, and Generation Support and Commercial Optimization, Trading & Transmission teams, building expertise in project management, operational performance, and workforce development.

Jarvis holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He resides in Vestavia Hills, Alabama, with his wife, Kimberly, and their two sons.

Where do you call home? Demopolis, AL

What are your hobbies? Running, watching my kids play soccer..

What’s the best vacation you’ve taken? A week in NYC with my wife before our children were born.

Favorite food. Almost anything in the soul food category.

If you were stuck on an island, what three things would you bring? A way to make fire, a decent shelter, and a way to catch fish en masse without working hard. 

Tell us something we might not know about you. I’m the fourth child of five in my family. It’s a great way to stay out of the limelight.

What is the last book you read? The Reckoning by John Grisham

Tell us something on your bucket list. My paternal grandmother’s house was my favorite place on earth as a child. The house burned down in the late 90s. One of the things on my bucket list is to retire and rebuild a replica of that house as a place where my grandchildren can build memories..

What is the first thing you’d buy if you won the lottery? You’d never know I won the lottery

What is your biggest pet peeve? If I’m trying to escape a conversation and the person on the other side is picking up my not-so-subtle hints that I’m done. 

Do you have a hidden talent? Yes, it is hidden so well that I’ve hidden it from myself.
