Taylor Mann is a Business Development Manager at Southern Power, where he focuses on originating and structuring long-term energy solutions to support customers’ evolving power needs. In this role, he works closely with large-load customers, developers and internal project teams to advance new generation opportunities.
Taylor began his career with Southern Power in 2005 as an engineering analyst in the Market Structuring and Analysis group, supporting market price forecast development and project valuation efforts. He later transitioned to the Generation Development team, where he was responsible for O&M modeling and reference plant development. In 2012, he joined Coal Services, leading the rail infrastructure support team and overseeing transportation procurement. After more than a decade negotiating bulk commodity transportation and storage contracts, Taylor joined Southern Wholesale Energy in 2023 as a Business Development Manager.
Taylor earned a bachelor’s degree in Mathematical Economics from Hampden-Sydney College in Farmville, Virginia. He and his wife, Barrett, live in Birmingham with their two children. In his free time, Taylor enjoys coaching youth sports and spending time outdoors.

Where do you call home? Birmingham, Alabama.
What are your hobbies? Anything outside! Being on the water fishing or in the woods camping are always great options, especially with family and good friends.
What’s the best vacation you’ve taken? Backpacking in Mount Rainier National Park.
Favorite food? Just about any cheeseburger.
If you were stuck on an island, what three things would you bring? A knife, paracord and a cast net.
Tell us something we might not know about you. My father and I have been to nearly 40 consecutive Iron Bowl games.
What is the last book you read? Endurance.

What is the first thing you’d buy if you won the lottery? A bigger boat.
What is your biggest pet peeve? Windshield wipers on a dry windshield.
