Rachel works as a Manager of Acquisitions, executing Southern Power’s growth strategy through the acquisition of new generating assets across all renewable, natural gas and storage technologies.

“Playing a direct role in the growth of Southern Power energizes me daily,” said Rachel. “Working with peers across the industry and company to acquire the best generating resources available is a large part of why I love my job!”

Before joining the Business Development team, Rachel worked in Financial and Contract Services at Southern Company where she had responsibility for the financial settlement of wholesale agreements, both generation and transmission. Prior to this role, Rachel served as sourcing specialist in Supply Chain at Southern Nuclear where she procured material and executed long-term supply contracts for Alabama Power and Georgia Power’s six nuclear operating units.

Rachel graduated from Auburn University with a bachelor’s degree in supply chain management with a marketing minor. Following undergrad, Rachel earned her Master of Studies in Law degree through Cumberland School of Law at Samford University.

A native of Dallas, Texas, Rachel now resides in Birmingham, Alabama, where she lives with her husband, Michael. In her free time, Rachel enjoys travelling and snowboarding.

Where do you call home? I grew up in Dallas, Texas, and then attended high school in Atlanta, Georgia. I’ve been in Birmingham, Alabama, since college and now call it home.

What are your hobbies? I enjoy travelling and snowboarding in my spare time. I have also been known to bake from time to time.

What’s the best vacation you’ve taken? A family trip to Italy has been one of my favorites, and I would love to go back again sometime soon!

Favorite food. Growing up in Texas, I developed a strong love for Tex-Mex, specifically steak fajitas!

If you were stuck on an island, what three things would you bring? According to my recent Google search… I would bring a knife, fishing net and matches.

Tell us something we might not know about you. My family has had a few life events occur simultaneously with hurricanes. I married my husband, Michael, during Hurricane Michael. My brother was engaged to Hannah during Hurricane Hanna.

What is the last book you read? Currently reading “How Women Rise” by Sally Helgesen and Marshall Goldsmith.

Tell us something on your bucket list. I would like to attend the Kentucky Derby!

What is the first thing you’d buy if you won the lottery? I would enjoy my time at a beach house.

What is your biggest pet peeve? Bad attitudes.

Do you have a hidden talent? I know how to sew, learned as a kid, and I still pull out the sewing machine and work on projects, typically house projects.

What are you currently watching on Netflix or television? I am looking forward to the next season of Yellowstone.
