Manager of Acquisitions
Stephen works as a Southern Power Business Development Manager, executing Southern Power’s growth strategy through the acquisition of new generating assets across all renewable, natural gas and storage technologies.
“The energy industry is at an inflection point. Southern Power is really building the future of energy in a rapidly evolving space. And, I’m a junkie for change. My job allows me to be a part of that growth, and we are on the forefront of creating that change.”
Before joining Southern Power’s business development team, Stephen participated in a co-op with Southern Company. Outside of Southern Company, Stephen worked as a sales and project manager for Coyote Logistics.
Stephen graduated with a bachelor’s degree in finance and aviation management before earning his Master of Business Administration at Auburn University.
Among other acquisition projects, Stephen played a large role on the team that worked to acquire the Cactus Flats Wind Facility, a 148-megawatt facility located in Concho County, Texas. This project was Southern Power’s first transaction with a tax equity partner.
“I love the people in this industry — both internally and externally. In renewables specifically, people are driven by the feeling that they’re making an impact when they invest in renewable resources. They’re really changing the world for the better.”
A native of Lilburn, Georgia, Stephen now resides in Homewood, Alabama, where he lives with his wife, Lindsay, and sons, Brooks and Davis.

Describe your job in three words. Ever-evolving, fast-paced, fun.
Tell us something on your bucket list. I’d love to become fluent in multiple languages. I’m working on Spanish now, and I’m on a 477-day streak of my Dual Lingo app, which basically equates to a 5,000-word Spanish vocabulary. I think I’ll move on to Italian or French next.
If you were stuck on an island, what three things would you bring? A yacht. Then, that would solve the problem of being stuck.
Tell us something we might not know about you. I majored in aviation management for my undergraduate degree and played tight end at Auburn University.
What is the last book you read? Does an audio book count? I’ve recently listened to “American Pharoah,” and I also like “Wait, What? And Life's Other Essential Questions” by James E. Ryan.
What’s the best vacation you’ve taken? Two come to mind: My honeymoon in the Virgin Islands in St. Thomas. It was great to completely unplug and relax on the beach. I’ve also taken a road trip in my parent’s RV with some of my friends; we traveled to Austin, Tempe, Carlsbad, went to a Lakers game, went sky diving in San Diego, and saw Vegas and the Grand Canyon.
